Bayer, a major chemical, crop, science and pharmaceuticals company, had long enjoyed success with a decentralised "command and control" approach to leadership. As it moved into a complex organisational change process aimed at operating more flexibly and competitively in its markets, an elemental part of the challenge revolved around meeting the developmental needs of its high-potential managers. Impact Study: Catholic Healthcare Partners - Developing next-generation leaders with an action-learning approach.
Catholic Healthcare Partners (CHP), one of the largest not-for-profit health systems in the United States, was acutely aware that strategic and successful succession planning was crucial for the future sustainability of its organisation. Building a cadre of leaders capable of carrying the reins was important, but ensuring that those individuals were imbued with a strong sense of the organisation's mission and values was imperative.
