Foundation Support

Support the Annual Campaign

We seek to work with foundations to find mutually beneficial methods for achieving our respective missions. The Center is interested in both general purpose or operating support, as well as funds specifically designated for a project, program or shared agenda.

Some specific methods of support include:

  • Capital Support. With five campuses to support, the Center is in continuous need of funds for buildings and construction; renovations and improvements; and technology and equipment. Naming opportunities are still available at the Center's headquarters in Greensboro and at the Colorado Springs campus, and we are actively seeking an opportunity to build a stand-alone campus facility in San Diego.
  • Challenge, Matching, and Leadership Grants/Seed Money. Gifts from one donor can often lead to additional support from other donors. The Center requests seed money to initiate new projects and programs as well as challenge, matching or leadership gifts that help stimulate giving from other donors.
  • Cooperative Ventures and Collaborations. Joint efforts among partners who share in funding responsibilities or contribute information and technical resources to projects are of great interest to the Center. Because we can offer our expertise in research, training and development, we can frequently work with foundations to provide capacity-building resources to their grantees or partners. We look for partnerships and collaborations where we can share a common agenda to improve the study and practice of leadership across all sectors of society.
  • Endowment. Endowments, meeting certain minimum requirements and CCL Board approval, can be established for general support or restricted purposes. Endowment funds are invested to provide income for continued support. The Center welcomes these contributions.
  • Project and Program Support/Research and Publication Support. The Center engages in a variety of activities that contribute to society's understanding of leadership -- its development, practice, impact, and role in a complex world. While some of these activities can eventually be self-supporting, many require start-up funds, monies for inquiry, research, and discovery and financial support to reach a broad constituency. We regularly seek support for all of our programs, projects, activities, conferences, research studies and publication efforts.
  • Tuition Assistance Programs and Institutional Support Funds. Central to its nonprofit, educational mission is the Center's aim to help leaders be more effective in their own situations -- wherever they may be. However, some leaders and some institutions are not able to access the Center's services due to lack of funds. We seek external support to allow leaders, particularly those from nonprofit and educational institutions, to take advantage of the Center's offerings.
