Emerging Leaders
What's the purpose of this project?
The purpose of the project is to create a knowledge base which can help us to better understand the leadership development needs of the Emerging Leaders population, which we define as professional staff under 35 years of age. To this end we gathered data and worked with clients on the following questions:
- What are the leadership development needs of emerging leaders? How do these needs differ from those of other age groups?
- What are the learning styles of emerging leaders?
- How do these learning styles differ from those of other age groups?
- What are the challenges emerging leaders face in defining and shaping their careers?
- What are the challenges of working across generations?
The project team finished collecting data in December 2002, and currently have a research database with over 3400 valid observations. Initial findings are now available in the Emerging Leaders Research Summary Report, and is now available in PDF format free of charge. We anticipate that additional findings will be available in the next six months after more detailed analysis has been performed.
